My first time watching a buatan
Sepet is a malay word which means “slit eyes” or as translated in the movie, “Chinese eyes”…eh. Languages used in this movie includes Malay, English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien, Manglish, Thai [songs] and Arab [prayer]. Then the movie is about a chinese guy with sepet eyes [Jason@ah loong] fall in love with this modern English educated malay girl [orked] (or the other way round?) etc etc.
Actually this movie can be played on MAS airplane to introduce
As a person who has watched too many Hollywood/hongkong movies, I think that the un-smoothness in this movie was abit annoying. For eg, most of the flashback are abit weird, as if the film editor cut at the wrong timing. Anyway there are some parts of the movie that I think it’s quite… um. How to put it. Ah nicely shot. Like the Canto-vs-Malay conversation between Jason and his Peranakan mother and the malay fmilt conversation also quite interesting.
Oh there’s sumthing I must say. The actress who acted Maggie [jimmy’s sister] shi4 chou3 de lor! Cant stand the way she talks. And then the pointless turt-club ringtone guy. So boliao. Don’t quite like the ending also. Dunno why like dat. Never explain properly. Overall the funny parts are funny lor. But the supposedly touching parts are so-so only la. Like dat lor.
