Other than coming back to check out officially from Ant Tea You, i am back in Sg for SYF09 - central judging for harmoc. Held in RP TRCC for the first time. So by going there, i can watch the whole syf process as an audience for the first time and at the same time recce for the concert hall of Vivace X.
When i was in the hall. woosh. memories all flew back.
How the seniors told us that we are the lucky batch coz in our j2 year we will definitely be up for syf. how we pracised so hard for our SYF year. how we waited at the backstage nervous like anything. how we performed stage. how we lost the first note. how we all felt after sonata and la spag. how the emcee anounced that we got a gold instead of silver or bronze. how we got on the podium and kena praised sarcastically by our dear principal - "the least expected gold". It was sweet and great memories, nonetheless, spent with the harmoc people. and that explains why i am still involved in harmoc now. albeit the difference in the harmoc culture and people.
Anyway. back to today.
We were late. bumped into whole bunch of jc/sec sch students outside the hall. all dressed up and harmoc-up for their show. to showcase the result of their almost one year of effort.
so one by one, we watched and listened to the band. it's like a combined harmoc concert. woosh. It's funny that i still enjoy harmoc performance very much tho having this year as my 5th year of playing harmoc.
Then here comes the result. and it was totally out of everyone's expectation. All silver! Even an amateur player like me were able to differentiate the performance from the schools. Think there was at least some teams deserved a gold if not a gold with honours. Hmph. Maybe coz like what Mr. Tang said before the programme, the judges this year are alot stricter. But, giving an all silver outcome, i think, will dampen the spirit of the teams, negate their effort and if it could go worse, let the principal have reason to be mean to harmoc again. Isnt it the objective of Am Ow Ee to promote art and culture in academic institutions? or 2nd tier(or 3rd) instrumental ensembles deserved this kinda treatment? 0.o
Just to share with all. Performance by my jujujujujujuniors . and i think it was damn good. Sorry for the poor recording quality. and pssst. it was prohibited to do any kind of recording. so Shhhh.
the announcement of the result.
