KLOG 2-7.0-11.0

KLOG 2-7.0: Vaccination and ‘pull river’

Brought class 1M to bilik APD for vaccination today since their form teacher was not around. Their reaction to the dead-virus-plantation process was damn farnie. Some were scared. Some scared till cry and refuse to be injected. Some refused to be injected until kena distracted by me and had the injection without knowing it.

“Teacher cheat one! It wasn’t like ant-bite at all! It was like a centipede-bite!”

Sorry.

First round of tug-of-war for sports day after recess. Was shouting “Push! Push! Push!” together with other teachers.[I felt like a gynae] Gals cried coz they lost. And not satisfied with the results. Primary school is like dis one lah. They really mementingkan this kinda inter-house competition.

PS: wrote this klog one day later than the actual date. Wasn’t feeling too well. And shouting will really colour your neck red!

KLOG 2-8.0: 1M 3M 5M 5H

These are the classes that I’m goin to take over when teacher Y [the one that I’m looking after her classes now] come back from maternity leave and teacher P gives birth to her baby. I’ll .STILL. be a form teacher. Chinese teacher and music teacher. But malay and maths will be substituted by science! Umm. I feel like a human meat ball – kena kicked from classes to classes. [ There are 2 more expectant mums in the staffroom…]

PS: Topics for Ujian Setara is out. And my classes are still lagging by A LOT. Gonna rush thru the topics le. Hmm. Try to cover everything while making sure most of the students are able to understand… eh but. Next week got rehearsal , full dress rehearsal, decoration and the actual Sports Day. Ugh.

KLOG 2-9.0: Second Week

Ended this week with abit of frustration. Raised my voice to scold the class. And before lesson ended, caned 4 boys coz they were hitting each other and making noise when I was conducting music test. Din really feel okay after getting angry and whacking students.

Ugh. Hope that would be the last time I use my rotan on human skin.

Inhale…exhale…

PS: Was reading PMR Bahasa Malaysia reference book, the Kata Sendi and Kata Penguat part. Wah. Big head ar. Must tahan..tahan..two more weeks then I wont be a malay teacher forever and ever le..[hopefully]

KLOG 2-10.0-11.0: Tired

I actually forgot to klog for day 10 yesterday!

Anyway.

Today is day11, erm was having sports day rehearsal for the whole day [altho it was planned to take only the first four periods only]…I was in charge of PBSM kawad kaki and then one of the co-ordinators for the sports events [basically the ones shouting and yelling in front of students getting them ready for the events]

Then after recess, there was third-placing tug-of-war match for both boys and girls. Shouting like mad also [one…two…pull to the power of n] In the end both boys and girls from blue team won! [My team!] haha. Felt great when I was leading them cheering to boast their morale and students saying ‘thank you teacher’ after the match… =)

Was the guru bertugas to judge the cleanliness of the classrooms. Realize that my class is one of the dirtiest ones! O.o

PS: witnessed the new way of wasting time again today – 115pm meeting@APD room.

KLOG 2-4.0--6.0

KLOG 2-4.0: First Week Summary

Again, I didn’t manage to finish teaching whatever I have planned for my lesson today. Bad time management, u know it’s just like exam. I cant stop feeling bad lah. Haiz. You know looking at the clueless faces then I’ll wonder whether I was going too fast or too slow. Or is it because my lesson was very boring. Hmm. Reflect reflect.

Training my students for story-telling is quite enjoyable. The boy, ZiNong. His story is “Xiaomao Zhong Yu [Little Kitten Planting Fish]” then the girl, HuiShi. Her story, “Yonggan de Xiaoshanyang [The Brave Little Lamb]”. Both of them still cant fully memorise their stories yet but can see that they are having fun. They drew lots today and they will be the last two to be on stage. Eh. Which means they’ll have time to practice and observe other contestants lah. Not a bad thing I think. Hope they are practicing at home now. Haha.

Last time, I always wonder why teachers don’t seem to understand us. They were students too, right? But then, now it seems like it’s hard to ‘think like a student and teach like a teacher’. At least for me. You know you just cannot imagine yourself sitting in your own class and teach at the same time. You will never understand how the students feel when they are attending your lesson. The only thing you can do is to guess from their expression and their words, if there is any.

PS: My class 2M is not the first class of their level but I realize that some of them are quite good in sports. 4K is not as mischievous as what other teachers said. For 5H, they are the top class but I’m quite worried about their BM under me…and they like harmoc LOL. Gonna take photos with the classes before I leave the school =)

KLOG 2-4.5: Weekend? Week-no-end!

Basically there is no weekend for teachers. They still need to plan for next week’s lesson, they still need to mark assignments, still need to do a lot of school-related stuff.

Me? I was summarizing what I have taught throughout the week, checking whether I have met the 1 week 1 chapter target. I was preparing for next week’s lesson. And homework for those classes that I’m gonna miss coz of Sports Day Rehearsal.

Anyway, I still never missed TV show and read sinchew as usual everyday. I still sleep at 11pm-12am every night. I still have time to klog every night. I still msn and online at least once a week…

PS: was chatting with my teacher [she’s now the disciplinary teacher] then she was like telling me her oldest students are almost 40year-old liao. o.O wah. Now I’m 19. My students are 8-11y.o. [calculating] then when I’m 39, they’ll be 28-31y.o. walao! Wonder if they will still remember me…

KLOG 2-5.0: Okay. Okay? Okay!

“Okay now let’s look at question 5…muka surat 33”

“Okay … now listen up, 5H…”

“Okay… VIPs! Are you two listening?”

dll.

Yeah I was okay-ing throughout the lesson I had today subconsciously until my students started counting the number of times I said okay in the class. [after that I said it intentionally to get their attention lah] okay now go on to the next point…

You know 8yo children can be so cute. They will grab your hand to talk to you even though you always enter the class with muka garang. They will still clap their hands loudly even after your lousy shot put demo. They will feel kinda proud if you can remember their names. Otherwise, they will correct your pronunciation in the cutest way in the universe. Haha.

Okay. I was giving practice to my pri2 kids for their story-telling competition tmr and then the class was abit noisy…I got annoyed then whack the [my] table with rotan.

PIAK!

It was so darn loud till I myself was shocked by the echo…I’m not trying to exaggerate here…seriously got ECHO…piak..piak.piak.piakkkkk….

PS: the number of twins in Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) [Govt Chinese Pri Sch] Kempas Baru is abit unacceptable. In my class 2M alone there are half of two pairs of ‘single-embryo’ twins. Plus plus the other pairs of mirror images that will give you unexpected surprises along the corridor. Confusing twins. o.O

KLOG 2-6.0: Rotan = RM0.40

Hahaha. The girl of my class got Consolation prize for story-telling com today! The boy din get anything but still feel happy for them! Din get to see their performance coz I was having Malay class with 5H.

Urgh. Asked them to hand in Karangan today. Finished marking them. Quite pissed coz some of the students actually copied each other’s essay. Got one smart student even copied pendahuluan from student A, isi from student B then did penutup himself! Walao. Let’s see tmr wad will happen during music lesson. Hehheh.

Lost my rotan yesterday, then bought another new one today from pasar malam. Haha. RM0.40 only la. So cheap. So nice to use. So loud when I use it to whack the blackboard.

PS: first photo of KLOG Season 2! [Part of] my textbooks, exercise books and Rekod Pengajaran dan Pembelajaran book plus the newly-bought rotan! ;)

KLOG 2-2.0-3.0

KLOG 2-2.0: Recorder vs Harmoc

First half of today was qualifying round for Sports Day. = no lesson ! YAY. Wow. Um.. haiz. But then I need to take kare whole bunch of 7-12year olds throughout the 2hours. Thot I could have some free period to mark my books…

Music lesson for 5H after recess. Haha. Taught the class to play recorder [ Edelweiss ] using harmoc!! LOL. Students seemed to be impressed by the non-recorder musical instrument. Haha. Demanded by the kids, played DaChangJin and Tonghua. Haha. A relaxed and enjoyable lesson =)

Last two periods was 2M Chinese. Kids driving me nuts. They just cant concentrate for more than 5minutes and cant keep quiet for more than half a minute. Teaching progress was S-L-O-W. hmm. How to prepare for mid year exam?

CCA after school. PBSM (RCS). Training/selecting students for marching. Found back all the commands and kawad kaki that I have buried deep in my brain. Got dust liao.

Eventful huh? Did planning for lessons until Monday liao.(haha) next week story telling. Next next is sports day. Then PIBG. Then Open day. Then Kem Motivasi. Then Mid year exam. Then NUS? ;)

PS: 41+40+48=129 not my students’ homework but the total number of kids that I’m teaching. O.O now I am really impressed by Mr. Yong and Mr. Ong’s ability to remember the whole class in just one day. Woo. I can only recognize my class monitors and those talkative ones. I’m trying.

KLOG 2-3.0: Kids

U really cannot underestimate today’s kids. They are way smarter compared to us when we were at the same age with them. They know how to talk back to teachers with minimal lag time. Their vocab probably is what I din know till later years of primary school. Every lesson I expect to get some surprise from them.

But, kids are still kids. They still make noise. They still say cute stuff. They still try hard to get teacher’s attention. They still say “laoshi zao’an” and of course, still very scared of the teachers.

Getting back their “Zao ju” [sentence making(?)] tomorrow. Haha. Really looking forward to the surprises!!

PS: UPSR Malay format has changed a lot! LOL. Not just a karangan but with Bina Ayat and Pengajaran [something like secondary school Pendidikan Moral]

KLOG 2-0.5-1.0

KLOG 2-0.5: Soul Engineer

It’s not easy to be a teacher, the “Soul Engineer” so-to-speak, especially an inexperienced primary school teacher. Was planning my lessons and arranging my schedule and found out that the first month will be a super busy month for me.

2nd week of Apr. 1st week of Cikgu Lim. Lotsa stuff need to familiarize myself with. Homework. The students. Teachers. And the school environment which has obviously changed quite a lot after 8years.and waking up early…marking homework and stuff. Wah. Not easy leh.

3rd week of Apr. There is this Chinese story-telling competition. Two of my students are taking part in it. And apparently they still haven’t memorise the whole story yet. Aah. Need to dig out time to train them and let them have practice in front of the class.

4th week of Apr. School annual sports day on Friday. I might be the emcee or help out in deco plus first-aid. Then got rehearsals and stuff. Busy busy me.

Plus plus. The weekly ejaan [spelling] and rencana [dictation]. The coming monthly test in May. Tuition fees collection. Wah. I’m stressed!

PS: My class 2M got 41 students (M : F = 27 : 14 [must be super noisy!]). Teaching 28 periods per week which is equivalent to 14hours. There are only 9 old-faces among my colleagues. The rest all new teachers that I need to spend time to memorise their names and faces!! Good luck for me. Hope I wont have to whack student on the first day of teaching. Cheers.

KLOG 2-1.0: Laoshi!

I was still quite blur on the first day la. Getting to know who is who in my classes. Admin stuff. Checking their assignment. Marking homework. Etc etc. and then thank goodness tomorrow is school holiday ( Maulidur Rasul ) ha. Can do some preparation work. Brought back all the textbooks and workbooks. 10+ books including Chinese ( text, workbook1&2, essay book, hanyu pinyin, writing ), Malay (teks, latihan, tulisan kursif, karangan, buku sumber(?) ), Music and Mathematics. O.O

Abit headache ar.

PS: need to brush up my Malay lah. My bm sarx.

Klog season 2

See it FIRST on kongaznalaa..

This time, he’s back to the place that he’s familiar with. A place he has left for eight years. A place that he’s going back to contribute and serve in the next three months or so.

This time, he’s not the adik/apek/abang/ooi anymore. People call him Mr. Lim or lin laoshi now lol. This time, he dun have the luxury to drive to work anymore. Bus number 11 is his transport to his workplace. This time, he’s not working alone in a four-walled room with gifts and snobbish customers anymore. He has got almost half a hundred of colleagues who are much more experienced than him and few classes of toddlers to take care of.

This time, Klog is back! Featuring blog owner the 18+year-old form teacher-cum-chinese-malay-math-music teacher of 2M, 4K and 5H. More interesting! more exciting! … more grumblings?

See it FIRST on kongaznalaa..

Singing

This post is to let you know more about things that you wouldn’t know unless I tell u here haha. Cheers.

You know last time I thought singing was very easy. Give me the lyrics then play the music then normally can just sing along already. Ha ha. How naïve I was haha. Anyway now I know liao la. Singing is not that easy haha.

Last time when my siblings and I were younger, my parents always buy those children songs cassettes [CASSETTE ok!] then we will just sing along with the lyrics printed on the folded cassette cover. Haha now some of those cassettes are still in the drawer but mostly spoilt le. I like to put my eyes close to the cassette player and see how the tape turns. A side and B side. Haha. These kinda farnie-but-i-don’t-know-how-does-it-work things always fascinated me hahaa.

You don’t know. I took part in singing competition before haha. That was in primary 1 till primary 3. intra-school competition. Got second place for the first two years then the third year I din get anything. That time I was like kinda disappointed then ya I never entered a singing competition anymore. Dun think I have a good vocal esp after I’ve ‘changed’ voice.

Then ya. it was until sec two then I started to listen to radio and Chinese pop songs. Then almost everynight I must switch on the radio ,skipping 9pm drama series and slowly developed a cant-study-without-music habit. Haha ‘golden time’ was sec3 when I can recognize every single song played on 933 with just the first 5 sec of the song haha.

Then ya. redbox thing started since form5 I think. Or later. Haha. Got this group of redbox buddies that I feel comfortable singing in front of/with them. Not other reason but just that we can stand each other’s singing no matter how lousy we are. Lol. Very good way to relieve stress haha.

Sing sang sung song… Seng?

Untitled

Was chatting with a friend whom I lost contact with for almost 10 years. Surprisingly, we had a lot to talk about and I suppose this is called “ngam key” or same frequency. Through the almost-two-hours chat, I found that we have a lot of things in common, especially the way we look at things, the way we treat people around us. A few times during the chat it was like my friend said exactly what I was thinking and then ‘wow you can actually read my mind!’ Haha. Friends with the same frequency are really hard to be found. Most of the time it’s about accommodation and toleration. Hmm I’ll learn to increase my band-width altho it’s not easy.

Happiness is something that can be only given to you by yourself.

Recently my daily routine is just eat.drink.shit.sleep.tv.music.games.newspaper. Feel like rotting. Again. Better drink some benzoic acid.

***

Was purely listening to songs in my one-hour playlist that night. As in with my eyes closed, earphones pressed against my ears, no typing or gaming what so ever. Listening to the lyrics, trying to differentiate the instruments used, counting the beats, imagining how the singer feels when he/she sang the song etc etc. haha quite cool.

***

Was playing dotA, a game that I won’t even touch in Singapore [with broadband]. Not as bad as I thought actually, altho it’s still kinda one-strategy game for me : attack with your creeps, retreat if your creeps all kena whacked out then wait for the next group, destroy towers then pawn heroes then attack the base then win/lose. But still. I think night elf is quite cool. The buildings can uproot themselves then move to another base [in campaign mode only] haha.
