Not Even ME
hello jb. I’m back from my 30hours trip back to sg. Erm ya. Fri 1pm went out .took public bus to larkin then 170 to sg lor. N to my surprise the bus 210 that I was waiting for doesn’t come to my area anymore!! Instead , I took another new bus 112 which took me 1 hr to reach larkin stn la ( last time at mot 30min ) . ok wadeva. Reach sg at bout 4pm laa..
k. tidied up my stuff then I slept. Then saw ben. Alex. Su. Damian.nicholas.alicia they all. The rest went bk liao or din c them in hostel la. Anywae hols in hostel is kinda boring apparently n we actually played dai di for like few hrs b4 all of us were too sianz to cont. n ya Hai Dai ~~ hahaa..
nxt morning wkoe up at 7. thot I was gonna b late for this inter jc Othello championship la. But in the end i reached there on time 0830 n the thing started only at 0945 la . Walao. And as usual TP n CJ send lotsa ppl lor.n of coz NYJC got the most powerful team ( can c from the way their coach giving them the last tips ). Nj got 6. including one fella who somehow lack of sportsmanship n left halfway after 3 matches .. dun wanna play den why bother to come n make nj lose face?
Anywae I saw some familiar faces lor. As in saw them/played with them last year I think.tp.cj.tj fella. Then check names. N I actually got rating !! coz I was in the comp last year !!! haha 1200. erm dunno izzit gd or bad. This year 1st runner up got 1228 la. So u judge lor.
So now the games are gonna start liao : - ( in detailed . warning. Can b quite long ar I tell u.. )
Rules:
-Each player got 15mins to finish the game.
-I played white.black.white.black alternately.
-Winner of each game will b promoted to a higher ranked table depends on his/her result.
-each table got one tablejudge who will record the game n then judge the game lor
1st game : table 21 ( the last table !! random pairing for 1st game FYI )
opponent : TPJC guy. Whom I lost to last year I think. 11-53 ( check it juz now according to my record last year) v chuan. V haolian. V i-think-I’m-the-best. Madeh !
process: I played v fast. Coz 1st game. Then wanted to win fast mah. Then man careless mistakes ( wa sounds like exam !! -__- )
Result : LOST. 11-53 ( again ! ) (bleah I’m gonna stuck at this last table for nxt round !)

2nd game : table 21
opponent : TPJC girl. Short-haired then I think she kena thrashed in 1st game . if not she wont come to this table la..
process : kinda easy win la. =p coz she dunno some of the basic moves. Again I played v fast while she thinks a lot b4 each move.
Result : WIN. 42-22. ( yeah promoted in nxt round liao ! )

3rd game : table 13 ( wa unlucky number huh? )
opponent : TPJC girl ( a dajieda look gal lor n think she’s the vp if not the p of tp Othello )
process : erm. Abit complicated. She was on advantage in the beginning but then in the end she counted wrongly so I managed to heng heng draw with her.
Result: DRAW. 32-32 ( my first ever draw Othello game in my life !! )
Ps : table judge of this game was a 20+ OAS (Othello Association of Singapore ) exco Ryan I think. Then he will analyse every game played on his table la. So like dat lor. I keep nodding my head to show that I agreed . bla bla. N he said I was lucky to get a draw la . which is true lor.

opponent : TPJC guy. ( wa not again. 4th TP lliao leh. Ps*fornunately(?) the last one ) ( saw him squatting at a side of the hall alone b4 the games start )
process : he made mistake in the beginning n let me took corner lor.then he looked quite troubled during the game n I finally know why after the game.
Result : WIN. 50-14. haha . thrash la. =p . phew
Pps : he strght away went to toilet after the game. Guess he got stomachache during the game then made mistake lor. Haha. No farnie.
Ppps : table judge of this game was another OAS member who looks like the chnl8 news reporter huang zhihao. Lol. Then after my opponent left he said sth while started to play with me since other tables are still playing :

( he nodded when I played some “good” moves which I dun really now why are they good sometimes. Then sometimes gave me a “huh?” expression wheneve I put a non-std move or put it simply not a move that a pro player will do la. )

-LUNCH BREAK- ate the chicken rice that I ate last year during the comp too-
5th game : table 7 ( wa single digit le =D )
opponent : CJC guy. ( wa finally not a TPJCian. ) ( wa abit full n sleepy n tired liao le )
process : ha this one is quite funny. I was playing white then I started with a perpendicular opening ( dunno wad is this? Go google for it ba.. ) then straight away he kena shocked la. Mayb he usually plays diagonal or parallel. Then that’s y he took quite long to think of the moves relative to others la. So I played faster n faster then he bcumz slower n slower till kinda luan liao.. (ha my psychological tactic works !! )
result: WIN. 49-15
My points : 3.5
6th game : table 5
opponent : CJC guy. He looked pro . that’s all I wanna say. He was the best ranked CJCian for that time la.
Process: I gained tempo in the 1st few moves then ya could hv won it with larger margin de but miscounted then nearly lost lor..
Result: WIN. 32-31 ( got one blank so it goes to the winner – me la..=p 33-31 )
Ps: table judge for this game was really not pro la. As in he stopped us halfway n asked us who made that move n the previous move blab la which he shld b the one taking note of those things !! bleh.

-take note: I’m getting HIGH at that time coz consec winnings then the game4 tablejudge keep comin n congrats me for my winnings which make my head kinda big then haiz. U noe wad happen next la-

But u know it’s not good to go in front so early coz I might get thrashed then fall all the way down. *which indeed happened >< ) opponent : NYJC (!) gal who emerged as the MVP of this year championship with total score of 8.5 eventually process : I was half dead when I knew I’m gonna play with NY ppl liao. Coz they re really strong. At that time the 4 best players of NY are all in the 1st 3 tables la. As usual I picked up my fast tempo but then lotsa mistakes n frontier discs. N she thinks v fast which means that my thinking time bcum less ( coz I usually use opponent thinking time to think one) then I gancheong then kena thrashed in the end laa .. result : LOST. 8-56 . wa my 1st single digit game. Kena thrashed like anything la.. my points : 4.5 erm nvm lost to NY v normal. Shall buck up in nxt few rounds

opponent : CJC guy. ( kinda excited coz playing with CJ coz NJ n CJ was v close in pts to get the 3rd placing at that time la. N of coz NY top. TP 2nd la )
process : let him took lotsa frontier discs n I thot I was gonna win la. But then in the end he took all the edges n 2 corners lor. I managed to fight back abit b4 losing the game eventually. Oh he was v stressed throughout the whole game but then he was actually controlling the game la. Dunno wad’s his prob la.

-2nd consec lost liao. I nd to win the last 2 games for nj to hv higher chance to get the 3rd placing –

process : again I played v fast without much thinking n actually doze off for a few times !!!

process: erm… haiz . I started off v good coz dunno why she eats a lot !!! which is definitely not good if u r not gonna wipe out ur opponent. Mid game I was really on advantage liao . thot I was gonna win the game easily. But then made a big big mistake which cost me a lot. Wedged wrongly then she took all the corners…

Waaa. I ended up with 4.5/10 n was actually nj worst player la. Bleh. Our best was another guy who won 7 games n he actually beat the table1 girl who lost only twice.
Sigh i din even get to maintain my 5 : 5 last year la. Sigh. N Nj was ranked 4th losing 1.0 mark to CJC counting the best 3 players’ score.
I think it was my fault to lose all the last 4 games. Bleh. At least shld win the last game mah. Waaa. Then din really prac also. Then.. aiya.dunno. kinda demoralizing for me la..
Hmm TP n NY were the only JCs that won the team champion b4 lor. TP 3times. NY 4times. So unhealthy competition. Coz they hv got coach who teaches them how to wipe out their opponent. Coz they got large number of members then can send like 10+ ppl for comp. for us. Nxt year onli left with one J1 . which is an Nj Othello tradition since 2years ago.
Disappointed with myself coz I cldnt meet my own expectation la.
But was quite happy coz got bole found me this haoma.. hahha =p
Anywae no more IJCOC for me liao. Ended with a pathetic 4.5 .
Then came bac jb at ard 2030. walao woodlands checkpoint was really crowded then they onli opened 3 counters la. Wth.
Oh. This dec got Singapore open Othello championship . wanna take part?
